FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to common questions about drone mapping, aerial photography, and drone videography. If you don’t see your question here, just send a quick note — we’re happy to help.

What affects the cost of a drone mapping project?

The biggest factors are site size, terrain complexity, airspace considerations, and the outputs you need (orthomosaic, elevation visualization, 3D model, progress documentation, etc.). We’ll recommend the simplest approach that meets your goals.

How long does it take to receive deliverables?

Many projects can be turned around within a few days, depending on scope and weather. Larger sites and more complex processing can take longer. We’ll confirm expected timing up front.

Do you provide orthomosaics and elevation outputs?

Yes. Common mapping outputs include orthomosaic maps, elevation color visualizations, hillshade/relief views, and 3D models. We’ll recommend the outputs that best fit your application.

Is drone mapping “survey grade”?

Drone mapping can be extremely accurate, but “survey grade” depends on the workflow, requirements, and whether ground control is used. If you have specific accuracy requirements, tell us and we’ll plan accordingly.

Do you handle FAA compliance?

Yes. We plan each flight with safety, airspace, and local considerations in mind. If a location requires special coordination, we’ll explain options and next steps.

What do you need from me before the flight?

A location (address or pin), basic goals, and any known constraints (access, gates, animals, sensitive areas). If you have a boundary or specific area of interest, that helps, but it’s not required.

What if the weather is windy or cloudy?

Weather matters for both safety and image quality. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule to protect results. For mapping, consistent lighting is ideal; for video, we plan around wind and visibility.

Can you do “before & after” progress documentation?

Yes. Progress documentation is repeat aerial capture using consistent framing or mapping passes. It’s useful for construction, land changes, vegetation, drainage, and seasonal changes over time.

Who owns the images and mapping deliverables?

In most projects, the client receives the delivered outputs for their intended use. If you need specific licensing terms (commercial marketing, publishing, long-term monitoring), just mention it.

Can you deliver files in specific formats?

Yes. Deliverables can include high-resolution images, shareable map images, and common GIS-friendly formats when needed. Tell us what software you use (or what you’re trying to do) and we’ll deliver accordingly.

How do I get a quote?

Use our quote form with the location and a quick description of what you’re trying to accomplish. If you’re not sure what outputs you need, that’s fine — we’ll recommend the best options.

Still have questions?

Send a quick note with your location and goals, and we’ll point you in the right direction.
